Harry Potter

The title doesn’t really have much to do with today’s events, I just couldn’t think of a better one and apparently certain portions of the Harry Potter movies were shot in Oxford.

Today we took a day trip to Oxford but we didn’t really know what to expect. We’ve heard it’s beautiful, we knew we needed to see Oxford University, and so we went. We definitely were not disappointed. Upon arrival we wondered around until we found the Oxford information center, urrr centre I mean, where we got our map and brochure of the town for 50 pence. It was nearly lunch time when we got there so we headed to the Covered Market. We wondered around to weigh our options and settled on the Oxford Sandwich Co. for lunch and after that we each got a cookie from Ben’s Cookies. It was definitely nice to actually take in some local food as opposed to our diet to this point of bread with a side of peanut butter. I don’t want to make it sound like we’ve starved, because we haven’t, we’re just traveling on a budget is all and have to pick and choose wisely.

One of the two of us is somewhat a fan of Harry Potter, I won’t say who…we heard part of Harry Potter was filmed at Christ Church in Oxford and ended up heading there first. Before taking more than two steps onto the grounds of the church we were immediate struck with a gorgeous view. The entire area surrounding the church was quite a landscape and the church itself was pretty too. We did make it to the dining hall which was used as the dining hall in the early Potter movies. After Christ Church we walked around to the different colleges of Oxford and just took in the beautiful university that has been around for centuries longer than our country has even existed. Before leaving Oxford we decided to indulge a little more so we grabbed a croissant and some double chocolate ice cream to take with us on the bus back to London.
